= Farmhouse Only The Farmhouse
The farmhouse dates back to the 17th century. It has been sympathetically renovated and can sleep up to 12 people.
Upstairs
The first floor has recently been decorated in neutral colours. There are six spacious bedrooms: four doubles and two twins. There are two en suite shower rooms and a family bathroom with bath and separate shower. The three south facing double bedrooms all have stunning views over the nearby village and chateau of Avezan. On a clear day the Pyrenees can even be seen. All beds have cotton bed linen and guests are provided with fresh towels.
Downstairs
The downstairs retains many original features. The entrance hall with terracotta tiled floor leads into the sitting room with beamed ceiling. The original farmhouse stone sink and fireplace with log burning stove are reminders of a bygone day. The farmhouse kitchen renovation begins in September 2009 and should be completed by November 2009. The kitchen will be fully equiped to a high standard and will lead into the dining room which can seat 12 and into the utility room. In addition there is a downstairs bathroom and separate loo.
Outside
The kitchen door leads onto a courtyard with garden furniture which gets the benefit of the evening sun. To the front of the farmhouse, clad in its own vine, is a south facing terrace. This overlooks the original walled garden, laid to lawn with flower borders. There is a securely covered old well and pump, reminders of the days when water did not automatically flow from a tap.
Swimming Pool Garden
To the side of the house is the swimming pool garden. This is surrounded by walls and a hedge. It has areas of paving and a lawn. The pool is 12m x 6m, with a depth varying from 1m to 2.30m. There is a safety ledge at the metre level around the deep end. Wide steps give access at the shallow end. Sterilisation is by means of a saline system, salt in the water being converted into chlorine as it is needed. This means that there is very little free chlorine in the water; thus no chlorine smells.
Open-fronted barn or ‘hangar’
Adjacent to the pool is a large (8m x 15m) open-fronted-barn, which has been arranged as an outdoor living room. Clad in original farm implements, it has a dining table to seat 12 and barbeque. There are plenty of deck chairs and sun loungers. Beach towels are provided.
A gate leads from the pool garden to a large grassed area planted with trees. A basket ball net and table-tennis table are provided for those who are feeling energetic.
There is parking for five cars.
